Weber Hired as New Cheer Coach

On Thursday, May 3, 2018, Oxford Community Schools Director of Athletics Jordan Ackerman announced the hiring of Head Varsity Cheer Coach Alanna Weber.

Weber is no stranger to the Oxford area as she attended high school and previously coached the Wildcats from 2001 to 2008. Weber accepted the head varsity cheer coach position at South Lyon High School in 2009 where she would coach until 2012 when she moved out of state. After moving out of state, Weber returned to Michigan and was the Head Varsity Coach at Clawson High School and most recently, Birmingham Seaholm High School.

"We are very excited for Coach Weber to get started," said Director of Athletics, Jordan Ackerman. "She brings a wealth of experience as a varsity head cheer coach and she demonstrated in detail her academic and character first approach to coaching."

Coach Weber is excited to meet with the student-athletes and begin the process. "I am happy to be home again here in Oxford," said Coach Weber. "I am looking forward to working with our student-athletes and developing our program to become a perennial competitor in both the OAA and at the state level."

While Coach Weber puts much emphasis on the skill development of the cheerleaders, she expressed that her main focus will be on character development. "Our expectations for our cheer program will be for our girls to be leaders in the school and leaders in the community. We will expect our girls to respect themselves and respect each individual they come into contact with," said Coach Weber.

Coach Weber will be announcing an informational meeting date for both parents and student-athletes. For questions, please contact Coach Weber at
