Oxford Volleyball vs. Lake Orion Recap
Oxford JV Volleyball won an intense match against Lake Orion on 9-13-18.   The players established an aggressive game plan, and did not disappoint.  
 
Lake Orion came out strong, winning the first set 25-23 in a hard-fought battle.   Oxford rallied back and won the second set 25-21.  The deciding set was to 15 points - and like the two previous sets was a back and forth battle.   Oxford started with 2 quick points scored by sophomore middle hitter Julia Blair.  The first point was an offensive kill, the second point a strong block on the LO attack.   LO returned with strong attacks and the set was back and forth.  Oxford found themselves behind 11-14 with LO having 3 match point opportunities.   Blair stepped up once again with 2 kills and a block, bringing it to a tie game.  Ava Wiscombe served an ace.   Oxford won the deciding point and secured a match win for the Wildcats.
 
Serving standouts were Ava Wiscombe (15 of 17) and Rachel Smiley (12 of 12).  Defensive standouts were Smiley, Megan Lupu and Julianna Laperriere.   Offensive standouts were Blair and Chloe Lebich. 
Oxford JV will participate in a tournament this weekend in Mt. Morris, and will have a home league match on Thursday, September 20th
 
 
Oxford Varsity Volleyball suffered a loss against LO Varsity today 0-3 (9-25, 23-25, 18-25). After game 1, Oxford came back and fought hard in games 2 and 3. The team was led by McKenzie Miller (libero) and Maddy Weiss (setter) with strong serving and defense. Molly Miller and Sydney Richter led the offense with 8 kills and 7 kills respectively. Emma LaBarge led the team in blocks and added 5 kills.
