Oxford Boys Varsity Tennis brings home several medals from the 2018 OAA Blue League Tournament

 

Oxford Boys Varsity Tennis is home to five 2018 OAA Blue League Tournament Champions. At 1-Singles, Lauren Opalewski took the goldmedal by defeating players from Ferndale (6-0, 6-0) and Avondale (6-4, 6-0) in straight set victories. Lauren's overall individual record on the season is 15-2. At the 3-Doubles flight, Dane VonAllmen & Silas VonAllmen took the gold medal by defeating teams from Farmington (6-4, 7-6) and Royal Oak (7-6, 2-6, 6-4). Dane & Silas overall record on the season is 11-4. At the 4-Doubles flight, Cameron Mumbrue & Chase Maier stormed to the gold medal by defeating teams from Farmington (4-6, 6-2, 6-3) and Royal Oak (6-4, 2-6, 6-0). Cameron & Chase overall record on the season is 15-2. 

 

Oxford Boys Varsity Tennis also had two more medal winners at the 2018 OAA Blue League Tournament. At 3-Singles, Trevor Wallace took the silver medal by defeating players from Southfield (6-0, 6-0) and Royal Oak (7-5, 4-6, 6-1), before falling to Avondale in the flight final. At 4-Singles, Gabe Smith took home the bronze medal by defeating Ferndale (6-3, 6-1), losing to Royal Oak (6-0, 6-3), before battling in the third-place match for a win over Farmington (6-0, 6-0).

 

The Oxford Boys Varsity Tennis Team took a third-place finish at the 2018 OAA Blue League Tournament – with medal winners in 5 of the 8 flights. Final Tournament Team Scores: Avondale 48, Royal Oak 45, Oxford 43, Farmington 34, Hazel Park 31, Ferndale 30, Southfield 10. 

 

Overall, the Team finished the season in third place in the conference standings, with Avondale winning the overall conference title with 14pts, followed by Royal Oak 12, Oxford 10, Farmington 8, Ferndale 5, Hazel Park 5, and Southfield 2.  

 

The Team finished the regular season with an 11-5 record. Next up, the Team travels to Clarkston for the MHSAA Regionals on Thursday, October 11th
