Oxford Volleyball Pulls Off Thrilling Comeback Victory In Final Home Match
On Senior night, Oxford Varsity Volleyball had a thrilling home match against Seaholm Maples Varsity. In the first two matches, the Wildcats went down 0-2 by scores (16-25, 23-25) and went to a decisive game 3. In Game 3, Oxford came back strong with a 25-20 win behind strong attacking from middle Emma LaBarge and a strong serving run from captain McKenzie Miller at the end of the game. 
 
Game 4 was action packed with neither team holding more than a 2 point lead until the Wildcats held a 15-13 lead. Behind Maddy Weiss' serving, the Wildcats extended the lead to 20-13, but the Maples come storming back to 20-17. Outside hitter, Sydney Richter extended the lead to 23-17, but the Maples came back again with a 7 point run to set up match point at 23-24. Molly Miller came up huge with a kill and the Wildcats closed the match 26-24 sending the match to a decisive Game 5. 
 
In Game 5, the Wildcats carried their momentum to a 15-9 win for an exciting finish. The team was led by senior Captain, McKenzie Miller who led the team in digs. Junior captain, Maddy Weiss, led the team in assists and led the offense by getting our hitters involved. Middle Hitter, Emma LaBarge and outside hitters, Molly Miller and Sydney Richter, led our offense in kills. 
 
 
The night was made special by all five seniors contributing for the unforgettable win. Anna Ibarra (DS), Anna Peruski (RS), Anna Trbovich (RS), Alexia Kingham (MH), and McKenzie Miller (L) all played critical roles in the victory!
