Girls' Swim End Season With Record Breaking Night

The Oxford Wildcats had a great league meet! All eight relays improved from prelims on Wednesday to finals on Friday. Of the 35 individual performances on Friday, 24 were season-bests and another 7 had been season-bests on Wednesday! It was a great end to our regular season.

Oxford's A 200 Medley Relay of A. Weltyk, G. Charnstrom, C. Schnur, and J. Fistler came in 2nd with a new school record time of 1:52.31.

200 Freestyle: senior Cailin Griffith took 15th with a time of 2:11.32.

200 Individual Medley: Junior Ashlee Weltyk finished 4th, qualified for states, and broke an 11-year-old school record with a time of 2:11.70! Grace Charnstrom came in 6th and Addie Bishop took 10th, both with personal-best times that place them 4th and 10th on Oxford's All-Time Top Ten list, respectively!

50 Freestyle: Sophomore Jenna Fistler touched 3rd with a time of 25.22. Peyton Bailey finished in 11th place for Oxford.

Diving: Senior Keira Veltigian was the league champion and was named All-league with a score of 354.35. Peyton Warren, Olivia Roth, and Emily Geda came in 10th, 11th, and 12th respectively.

100 Butterfly: Freshman Cali Schnur took 2nd with a personal-best time of 58.62. Nellie Charnstrom and Izzy Frechette came in 9th and 15th respectively for Oxford. Nellie's time moves her up to 8th on the Top Ten List.

100 Freestyle: Jenna Fistler finished in 7th with a time of 55.79. Kaleigh Rogers touched in 14th for Oxford.

500 Freestyle: Cailin Griffith came in 14th with a time of 5:59.35 and Sabrina Kurk took 16th for Oxford.

200 Freestyle Relay: Oxford's A Relay of P. Bailey, C. Alexander, N. Charnstrom, and K. Rogers finished in 4th for Oxford with a time of 1:46.03. Peyton led off the relay with the 7th fastest 50 freestyle in Oxford's history.

100 Backstroke: Ashlee Weltyk was the league champion and was named All-league with a time of 58.77. Cali Weltyk came in 3rd, Peyton Bailey took 10th, and Claire Alexander finished in 13th for Oxford.

100 Breaststroke: Sophomore Grace Charnstrom took 7th with a season-best time of 1:13.72. Kaleigh Rogers and Addie Bishop claimed 13th and 15th place respectively. Addie is now 6th on the All-Time Top Ten List with her time from prelims and Kaleigh is now 7th on the Top Ten list with her time from finals.

400 Freestyle: Oxford's A Relay of J. Fistler, G. Charnstrom, C. Schnur, and A. Weltyk finished in 4th and qualified for States with a new school record of 3:42.69!

This Thursday, Keira Veltigian will compete at the Regional Diving Championships. Top 12 from each region will go on to the Division I State Meet at EMU on Friday, November 16th. Already qualified for the State Meet in swimming are Ashlee Weltyk, Grace Charnstrom, Cali Schnur, and Jenna Fistler. All four girls will be competing in the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Free Relay. Cali has also qualified in the 100 Butterfly, Jenna has qualified in the 50 Free and 100 Free, and Ashlee has qualified in the 200 Free, 200 IM, and the 100 Backstroke!
