Oxford/Avondale loses to Farmington United 8-0
An undermanned Oxford Avondale squad traveled to take on Farmington United on Wednesday November 21st. OA was short a couple of players due to the Holiday break while Farmington had their complete squad full of senior players.
Farmington dictated play from the start, putting 24 shots on Senior Goalie Aaron Angelo in the first period while scoring twice. If not for some outstanding saves by Angelo, the game could easily have gotten out of hand. OA could not generate any offense as they were limited to just one shot on goal during the period which ended with Farmington up 2-0.
The second period was almost a copy of the first with Farmington peppering Goalie Aaron Angelo with 25 total shots. Angelo made save after save but was not able to stop the 3 goals allowed which he had no chance on. OA was able to get some more shots on goal, but Farmington was able to handle all the rushes. Farmington would take a 5-0 lead into the third period.
In the third period Sophomore Goalie Austin Spivey took the ice for Oxford Avondale. Farmington United did not slow down as they attacked the OA from the drop of the puck. Farmington was able to put a quick 19 shots on net in the first 12 minutes of the period, scoring 3 times and ending the game with a mercy.
Oxford Avondale United is back on the ice on December 1st as they travel to Royal Oak to take on a United Squad that is improved from last year.
