The Wildcat Bowling program was busy over the Holiday. They had 12 mixed teams participated in the Davison Doubles on December 29. There were 75 teams fighting to qualify in the top 32 to move on to match play. Oxford showed it strength by getting 6 teams into the match play field. Our top finishers were Megan Armbruster and Zach Barrows who finished 5th overall. Dalton Hopps partnered with Claire Sandstrom as well as Tony Verbeke with Mya Bruno also medaled in the top 16.
Oxford also sent 4 teams to the extremely tough Bakers dozen event at Imperial Lanes on January 5th. All 4 squads qualified for match play and 3 of the 4 made it to the final four and medaled. The Girls teams both finished 3rd overall. The Varsity final four was extremely strong with Dakota, Lake Orion and Farmington Harrison joining Oxford.
"The Girls final four very well could be the final four at the state finals. This was an incredible field and I'm proud of the showing these young ladies had." - Head Coach JR Lafnear
The boys Jr Varsity team armed with 5 freshmen finished 2nd overall. While the Varsity team had some good things happen they lost in round 1 in a close battle.
"As with the girls there were strong programs here. The Varsity boys made to many mistakes and we'll learn from this. The JV boys were awesome. They made some clutch shots and lost in the finals to a much older Dakota team. I love what I saw from these young bowlers"
The Team gets back to match play on Thursday vs Hazel Park.
