The showdown between the Oxford and Lake Orion was Thursday night. The girls match would take center stage between two of the states highest ranked teams. Lake Orion is ranked 2ND and the Oxford Girls are ranked 3rd. The winner of this match would be crowned OAA Red Division champions.
Lake Orion came out guns blazing shooting it's second 300 game in 2 weeks. They are the only team ever to shoot a 300 game in Michigan Girls bowling. The Wildcats fell behind 10 to 0 after the Dragons won game 2 210 to 174. The Wildcats have been behind before and have a no quit attitude. The girls went to work in game one of match play lead by Grace "The Kid" Meyer. Meyer shoot a 219, Mya Bruno 192, Savanah Barnes 202, Claire Sandstrom 202 and Megan Armbruster 203 for season high game of 1018. Lake Orion shot a 906 and Oxford was back in the match. Game 2 the girls rolled again with Bruno leading the way with her season high game of 225. Right behind Bruno was Kid Meyer 182, Sandstrom 204, Barnes 205 and Armbruster 201. The team score of 1017 to Lake Orion's 849 sealed the improbable comeback and the Championship. It's the girls first OAA Title since 2016.
The boys cruised to a 23 to 7 victory over the Dragon Boys. The Oxford boys team is ranked 2nd in the state rankings. They were led by Luke Acton's 228,236 Justin Powell 252, Collin Massie 223. The boys finish the OAA Red division like the girls as OAA Champions. It is the 6thChampionship in a row for the boys.
The teams compete in the OAA Conference tournament on Saturday.
