The Colts came out strong for their senior night, The Wildcats would trail the entire first half. Oxford had no answer for Troy on both ends of the court, the Colts pulled down big offensive boards while the Wildcats couldn't get any shot to fall. At the half Troy led 34-27.
The Colts came out strong again in the second half mounting another run to increase their lead by 11 points, the biggest lead of the night. Troy continued to take down offensive and defensive rebounds creating second chance opportunities while capitalizing on Oxford's turnovers. For every basket Oxford scored Troy answered with turnover inducing defense or put backs on the offensive end.
At 5:00 minutes in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats cut the lead to six. Methner and Hershman hit two consecutive threes, Hershman's bringing the score to 40-42. Troy sent Methner to the line where she sunk both free throws, tying the game up at 42. Neither team would score before time expired sending the game into overtime.
Hershman would take over in extra minutes, hitting a big three and finishing at the free throw line. Hershman finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds, Methner with 10 points and 8 reounds, Cato would add 11 points.
The Wildcats head into district play at Lake Orion. Our girls face Waterford Kettering on Monday at 7pm in the first round of playoffs.
