Oxford 8th grade gold volleyball team defeated Clarkston BLUE, winning two of the three sets – 25-23; 25-9; 22-25

The first set was back and forth with Clarkston holding on to a slim one point advantage for most of the match.  Helene George stepped up to serve with the game tied 20-20 and racked up two points; Oxford ahead 22-20.  Clarkston served three points, now ahead 23-22.  Alex Dawood served three consecutive points, closing out the match 25-23.   Josie Stoffan dominated the net with 3 stuff blocks and 6 attacks resulting in kills. 

The second match was a total domination by Oxford GOLD, winning 25-9.  Kaylee Misiak started serving with the score 7-5, knocked out 5 aces and finished her run with Oxford now leading 15-5.  Ava Sinacola was crucial in defense with 14 passes and 93% accuracy, Emily Blair had 100% hitting accuracy with 4 kills out of 7 attacks.  Alyssa Kuhl also had 100% accuracy with 2 kills on 5 attacks. 

With the match secured, we mixed up our positions with Carly DeTone now as an outside hitter.  Carly stepped in to for 3 quick kills, with assists provided by setters Ava Sinacola and Alyssa Kuhl.  

Oxford GOLD travels to Clarkston Jr. High tonight to play Clarkston GOLD.  Good job, Wildcats! 

 

 

On Tuesday, March 12th, the Oxford 8th grade Blue volleyball team took all three sets to win the match against Oakview Middle School. Ashley Horne and Lexi Owens had very strong serving contributing greatly to our victories in the first and second sets.  Lola Piper and Maggie Feltz commanded the net with several hit kills.  Olivia Dare and Carleigh Turek had some well executed back row kills.  Halle Darrin had some great digs and set  her team up well which led to several great hit kills.
