Oxford Girls' Golf Achieves Success Touring Oakland County

Troy Invitation Recap:

August 22nd, the Varsity Squad played 18 holes at Twin Lakes in the Troy Invitational. Sixteen teams started shotgun style at 9:00am on another beautiful late summer day. Captain and Junior Janelle Grech led the team with a 96. Janelle historically plays well here, she shot a 99 at the tournament last year. Kate Dietiker (junior) shot a 108, Captain and Senior Elizabeth Grabowski shot 109 and Eryn Petriko 110. The team finished 14/16 but were encouraged as they beat division rival Athens!

North Farmington Recap:

The second day of school saw our first league dual of the season. Six Varsity golfers travelled to Glen Oaks golf course to battle N. Farmington on their home course. Juniors Grech, Dietiker, and Petriko to push each other to excel. Tuesday's match was led by Captain Janelle Grech with a 49. Kate Dietiker had a 50 and Eryn Petriko had a 51.

"It was a very close match but the Wildcats were victorious shooting 205 beating N. Farmington by 1 stroke! It was a lesson in making sure every shot matters." – Head Coach Gretchen Gabler

OAA #1 Tournament Recap:

Oxford Varsity opened the 2019 golf season August 20 with the first OAA tournament. The six teams in the white division this year are Oxford, N. Farmington, Troy Athens, Birmingham, Groves, Rochester Adams and newcomer Rochester. The teams played 18 holes in perfect weather at Farmington Golf Club.

"The Oxford Wildcats were led by Eryn Petriko, a junior who worked on improving her game during the off-season" said Head Coach Gretchen Gabler. "Her 99 was a personal best. Junior and Captain Janelle Grech shot 100, junior Kate Dietiker carded a 102 and sophomore Lilly Yankee finished the scoring with a 109. The team finished 5th of six.  The Wildcat Golf team will be working hard in practice to improve skills and lower scores."

Lincoln Hills Tournament Recap:

Oxford sent a team to an early morning tournament to Lincoln Hills, a 9-hole course in Birmingham. Seniors Olivia Soule, Sam Malinich and Summer Bell represented our school. Olivia Soule led the trio with a 48 and earned a giant medal!
