Boys' Bowling Individuals Represent Well at Finals

As if Friday wasn't exciting enough, three Oxford boy bowlers advanced to the state finals on Saturday. Tanner Cartner, Christian Cartner and Zach Barrows all made it out of regionals to bowl for a singles title.

Over 600 boys started the season and the field is now down to the top 60. Each bowler would bowl 6 games and the top 16 would move on to head to head competition. There they bowl 2 full games and the total pin leader would advance.

Zach Barrows a sophomore shot well finishing in the 30th position. He had a high game of 243 but fell 45 pins short of advancing.

Tanner Cartner totaled 1238 and averaged 206 to move on in the 7 seed. Christian Cartner totaled 1190 averaging 198 to qualify in the 13 spot.

Christian won his first round match 368 to 334 over Keegan Ratobyiski of Chippewa Valley. He then faced of against Matt Buck of Rockford. Christian battle tough but was unable to get by Buck. Buck would go on to win the singles title.

Tanner also won match 1 409 to 277 over Spencer McCallum of North Farmington. He also beat Jacob Frogge of Lake Shore 435 to 304 to advance to the final 4. In a very back and forth match he finally lost to Ryan Reid of U-D Jesuit. The score was 369 to 362.

"These guys were outstanding today. A top 4 and 8 finish is a big accomplishment. Zach was top 30 as well. I was honored to be there coach today. "
