OA Shut Out by Cabrini, 8-0

On Wednesday night, February 7th, Oxford Avondale United traveled to Allen Park to take on the Cabrini Monarchs.  The Monarchs are having a good season and were coming in to the game 12-7 while OA was coming off on their great Overtime win against DeWitt / St. John.  The Monarchs were able to start the scoring at the 14:04 mark of the 1st period putting the puck in the net on a rebound off of Junior Goalie Aaron Angelo.  Cabrini scored their second goal of the game just 34 seconds later on a quick wrist shot from between the circles to put them up 2-0.  OA was able to shut down the Monarchs for the remainder of the period and we went into the intermission down 2-0.

Cabrini kept up the pressure to start the second period, but OA and Goalie Aaron Angelo was able to keep them in check.  OA took a penalty midway through the period, and Cabrini was able to take advantage on a series of great passes and scored putting them up 3-0.  Cabrini was able to shut down most of OA's attempts for the entire period, limiting them to only 2 shots on goal.  Cabrini made it 4-0 at the 4:03 mark.  OA again had to defend a Cabrini Power Play late in the period and gave up another goal, putting them down 5-0.  As the period was coming to an end, Cabrini made it 6-0 putting a rebound into the net with only 19 seconds remaining.

The 3rd period got a little more physical as both teams took multiple penalties.  While on a 4 on 4, Cabrini was again able to score to put them up 7-0 at the 10:16 mark.  Cabrini was able to end the game scoring at the 4:33 mark of the 3rd to give them the 8-0 win.

OA's next game is Sunday, February 11th at the Detroit Skate Club at 4:00 pm when they take on the Mid-Michigan Storm.
