OXFORD, Mich. - Tryouts for Oxford High School lacrosse for junior varsity and varsity will begin Monday, March 12, 2018 in the Smith Gymnasium. The prospective student-athletes are asked to meet at 6:15 pm in the locker room before the 7 pm tryout start. The tryouts are moving indoors for at least two days the stadium is still covered in snow at this time of publication.
"We are trying to get outside by Wednesday, but that's all up in the air until Mother Nature changes wind direction," said Greg Normand, Oxford's head coach.
Players should have all required physicals turned in to the Oxford Athletic Office, taken or scheduled a concession test before Monday's scheduled practice and make sure you bring your own NOCSOE approved lacrosse equipment.
Normand said that participants and family members should use the team website for time changes in the first week as the weather changes.
Oxford varsity opens the 2018 season at the annual Brighton Food Scrimmage at 9:30 am at Scranton Middle School in Brighton. All players will be asked to bring two non-perishable canned food items for the Livingston County Food Bank. The Oxford Middle School team plays Saturday afternoon at Scranton Middle School at 1 pm. The Oxford teams will compete against Birmingham, Grand Rapid Forest Hills Eastern, Howell and South Lyon.
